As Canadians rally behind their National Teams this summer, the Women’s National Team continues its journey toward the next cycle of international competition
Toronto, ON — June 5, 2026 — Canada Soccer and Canadian Soccer Media & Entertainment (CSME) today announced that TSN will carry Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team’s (CANWNT) international friendly against Costa Rica on June 9, further expanding the squad’s reach to audiences across Canada.
The additional distribution reflects Canada Soccer and CSME’s long-term commitment to growing the audience for Canadian soccer, with this summer providing another significant opportunity to connect more Canadians with their National Teams.
For Canada’s Women’s National Team, the match against Costa Rica forms part of an important stretch as preparations continue for the Concacaf W Championship, the qualification pathway for both the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ and the LA28 Olympic Games.
“We’re pleased that more Canadians will have the opportunity to watch our Women’s National Team this month,” said Kevin Blue, CEO and General Secretary, Canada Soccer. “Matches like this are an important part of the team’s ongoing development and World Cup qualification prep. This also gives our fans a chance to stay more connected with the players and the program throughout the year.“
The match between Canada and Costa Rica at Estadio Jose Rafael “Fello” Meza Ivankovich in Cartago, Costa Rica will kick off at 9:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 9. Produced by OneSoccer, it will be part of a soccer doubleheader on TSN, following Atlético Ottawa vs. FC Supra du Québec at 7 p.m. ET, one of the Canadian Premier League’s Red and White Out matches celebrating and supporting Canada Soccer’s National Teams.
Studio coverage throughout the evening will feature Andi Petrillo, Amy Walsh and Jordan Wilson, while Adam Jenkins and Jessica Lisi will call the action. French-language coverage will also be available featuring Matt Cullen.
“Canadian soccer is experiencing tremendous momentum, and our responsibility is to continue building on that momentum across the sport,” said James Johnson, Group CEO, Canadian Soccer Media & Entertainment and Commissioner, Canadian Premier League. “As Canadians rally behind our National Teams on the international stage, we’re creating more opportunities for fans to follow the players and programs that represent our country. Expanding distribution through partners like TSN is an important part of our strategy to grow the audience for Canadian soccer, increase visibility and strengthen the connection between Canadians and the game.”
